Airtel Nigeria partners Unilever on Health Awareness Campaign for Primary School Children
Leading telecommunication service provider, Airtel Nigeria in partnership with Unilever Nigeria, on Thursday in Lagos, activated a Health Awareness Campaign for Primary School Children as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
The Health Awareness Campaign, a CSR initiative for Oral Health Hygiene was activated at the Oremeji Primary School in Ajegunle, Lagos State.
The campaign is aimed at educating primary school children on how to brush their teeth and keep a healthier and stronger tooth for future.
The primary school pupil were taught by a Doctor, Miss Abu Dorcas from the Dental Department at Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), on the right ways they should brush, while she also engaged the pupils on a practical example, using the Unilever’s Pepsodent toothpaste.
Mr. Adedokun Oye, Regional Operations Director, Lagos Region, Airtel Nigeria, who spke at the campaign, said, “Airtel want to associate with the leaders of tomorrow, to bring out the best in them and to make them healthy and that’s why we have partner with Unilever Nigeria on this particular project.
“We have schools at different region across Nigeria that we have adopted, renovated, refurbished and equipped. This is what Airtel is doing and we are going to continue it. We are providing them with gift items like tooth brushes and toothpastes so that they can actually practice and that’s make them healthy having a stronger tooth as the leaders of tomorrow.
“We want to give back to the society for their support and for patronizing us, appreciating the fact that we need to catch them young, that the environment in which they learn is safe and secure, giving them all the tools to be brilliant pupils.”
Dr Dorcas also enlightened the children to brush twice daily (morning and night), using fluoridated toothpaste and staying away from sweet and sugary things.
She advised them to eat more fruits and vegetables, drink water and that they should see their dentist every six months.
