SUPER EAGLES BEGIN TO GATHER AS IGHALO MAKE LIST OF EPL PLAYER OF THE MONTH

Ahead of Friday's 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifying fixture against Swaziland in Lobamba, the Super Eagles' camp is open to the invited players; 24 of them. Watford striker Odion Ighalo joined the camp of the Super Eagles on Monday afternoon as they continue preparation for Friday’s 2018 World Cup qualifier against Swaziland. Goalkeeper Carl Ikeme and four other players arrived on Sunday evening in the Abuja camp.The two other invited goalkeepers, Portugal-based Dele Alampasu and Ikechukwu Ezenwa of Sunshine Stars also arrived camp.

Defenders Chima Akas of Sharks and Abia Warriors' Austin Oboroakpo arrived at dinner time on Sunday. While Ighalo joined camp at breakfast on Monday to complete the six players already in camp at the Bolton White Apartments, Abuja.

According to Toyin Ibitoye, the media officer of the Super Eagles, all other players were expected at lunch time on Monday as all is now ready for training to begin on Monday evening. It was equally gathered that head coach Sunday Oliseh is back to the team in good health condition and ready to begin preparations for the World Cup qualifier. Oliseh had been excused for two weeks to get medical treatment abroad after taking ill in camp during preparations for the second leg of the African Nations Championship qualifier against Burkina Faso on October 24.

Nigeria will travel to Swaziland for the first leg in Lobamba on Friday, November 13 and the return leg will take place at the Adokiye Amiesiamaka Stadium in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, November 17.

Watford striker Odion Ighalo will be revelling on his nomination for the Premier League player of the month for the second consecutive month. He is joined on the shortlist by Manchester City midfielder Kevin de Bruyne, Leicester City's Jamie Vardy, Arsenal's duo of Mesut Ozil and Oliveri Giroud and Stoke's JackButland. Ighalo has been in blistering form for the Hornets of last scoring seven goals in 12 games just as Ozil has chalking up six assists in four appearances during October, while also finding the net in the win over Manchester United. While Giroud benefited from such service, scoring three times in four games, and joins his team-mate on the shortlist. Kevin De Bruyne provides sturdy competition on the list, scoring once and providing four assists of his own during his second month at the Etihad Stadium. Jamie Vardy, the Premier League’s top scorer, is also nominated after scoring five goals in four matches for Leicester City. The winner will be announced on November 10.
