GLO CAF AWARDS

The CAF Awards is an awards' evening held to honour the best African association football players. It is conferred by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and all is now set for the 2015 Glo-CAF Awards scheduled to hold at the International Conference Centre, Abuja on Thursday, 7th January, 2016.

Among the dignitaries who will attend the event is the Acting President of FIFA and CAF President, Alhaji Issa Hayatou who will lead a delegation of FIFA and CAF executives to the awards gala.

The Glo-CAF awards are the most prestigious in Africa conferred on outstanding players, coaches, supporters and administrators by the continent’s highest football authority and bankrolled by next generation network and the continents leading indigenous telecoms operator, Globacom.

Winners in the different award categories  including African Player of the Year and African Player of the Year (Based in Africa), National Team of the Year, Club of the Year, and Coach of the Year will be unveiled at the event.

Other categories are Women’s National Team of the Year, Women’s Footballer of the Year, Most Promising Talent, Referee of the Year, Legend of the year, Fair Play Award, Platinum Award (which has only one nominee), and Africa Finest XI.

Nigerians have been nominated in five different categories namely: Talent of the year (Azubuike Okechukwu and Oghenekaro Etebo), Coach of the year (Emmanuel Amunike), Youth player of the year (Victor Osimhen and Kelechi Nwakali), National team of the year (Nigeria national U-23 football team and Nigeria national U-17 football team), Women footballer of the year (Ngozi Ebere).
